Built4Lifers Stories

James Feathon - 41 years old

"Building my physique, Built4Life style, has quite literally changed my whole life - I've lost 50lb and life's never been better!"
Before I signed up, I was running two businesses, had a busy family life and was under enormous amounts of stress. My health, weight and fitness levels had been slowly getting worse for years. This eventually landed me in the hospital with a severe case of Diverticulitis which could have cost me my life. That's when I knew things had to change.

I had made gestures over the years to try and lose weight just like everybody else, looking at various YouTube channels and fitness websites however I knew it would require a lot more than just losing some weight as a temporary fix, the change needed to be permanent and sustainable.

I was introduced to Built4Life by a friend and I have never looked back. The four pillars – physicality, nutrition, mentality and accountability - have become so integrated into my life it's like second nature now. I never imagined I would enjoy weight training the way I do or view food based on simple, easy-to-understand facts that actually work - I've lost 55lbs and I never thought I'd think of this as just a happy side effect but I do.

A little story I tell to illustrate how bad I was is that I couldn't even bend down to put my socks on in the morning. I never forget this as it's a reminder of where I was and where I am today. You might laugh but I have later found out that it's more common than you think with people like me.

If you are like me and reading this Built4Life is about much more than building your physique, it's a lifestyle. I recommend anyone that is in my past position to invest in it.

"I was following mainstream fitness advice to the letter and it was destroying me. Thanks to Built4Life I'm in the best shape of my life and I can't believe how little I have to do!"
I was introduced to Built4Life at one of the lowest points of my life. I was 49, a successful businessman and considered myself fit and healthy. I'd never made the gains I'd hoped for in the gym but I was following mainstream fitness advice to the letter: weight training 5 days a week, hours of cardio and always pushing to add weight and do more sets and reps.

Then I lost my Mother and it hit me hard. I tried to push through the pain but the years of relentless effort in the gym finally took their toll and my body broke down completely. My bodyweight blew up to 230lbs and I struggled with back pain so severe I couldn't get out of bed for days. My business was collapsing because I couldn't stand up, let alone work.

When I found Built4Life, they had me do the complete opposite of everything I'd been doing. I cut my gym sessions down from 5 times a week to twice. I started using joint-friendly exercises instead of grinding through heavy compound movements. I focused on mindful execution not trying to smash it everytime I went to the gym.

I finally built the physique I'd always wanted, losing 55lb in the process and am in the best shape of my life by a long way! My back is pain free and my business is thriving. I still can't believe how little I have to do compared to what I used to do before and how much better I look and feel.

The Built4Life lifestyle literally helped me save my life. For anybody that's struggling like I was, I can't recommend the Built4Life Total Immersion Program enough.

"I never imagined I would enjoy weight training the way I do. Building my physique, Built4Life style, has quite literally changed my whole life."
Building my physique was the start of a complete lifestyle change for me. I have followed the Built4Life principles now for over two years and the benefits that it has brought to me are priceless. It’s changed every aspect of my life and that’s not only improved things for me, but for those people around me that depend on me.

My lowest point was after undergoing a full knee reconstruction from a serious accident which left me physically and mentally in a bad way. I tried many times to get back to some level or normality which never lasted very long. Interestingly enough, I was asked a question at the beginning what I wanted to achieve and my answer was, I want to lose some weight and just feel better than I do and that would have been a huge win from where I was.

The funny thing is, I absolutely hated the idea of any form of weight training as for me that represented bodybuilders and meatheads which was not ever my intention. I am completely shocked and happy to say that the way I now view weight training completely differently as weight training Built4Life style is totally different.

I've really enjoyed building my physique and I lost 50lb in the process too but the Built4Life approach soon made me realise I could achieve much more than building my physique and getting back to normal. The Built4Life approach is not your standard fitness program. It’s a lifestyle that for me is now a way of life.

The impact that the Built4Life lifestyle has had on me has opened up so many possibilities of what I am capable of achieving in the future and I’d recommend it to anyone who thinks getting back to health and happiness is out of reach.

“Following the Built4Life principles has improved all areas of my life both mentally and physically. I've regained my confidence and feel like I did in my twenties yet I look better than I ever have!”
Before I started using the Built4Life principles, you could say that my lifestyle would qualify as as bad as it gets. I was a confident young man in my 20s, keeping fit from football and having an active job, I didn’t realise until my mid 30s how much I’d changed. I was no longer playing football, my drinking was out of control and my nutrition was non-existent to the point where I now realise I was completely abusing myself every single day. I knew I was suffering from a huge lack of self-confidence but I actually got to the point where I didn’t care until things spiralled out of control and I had to do something about it. If I had to describe myself it would be a train wreck. Both mentally and physically.

I was a victim of false advertising. I followed all of the Facebook Ads, Instagram pictures seeing all the before and after pictures advertising fat burning pills and quick fix work outs and extreme diets. I thought everybody else was changing their life around within 6 to 12 weeks with these BS miracle programs. Having fallen for this, I tried many times before I knew these didn’t work for me which lead me to completely and utterly believing that nothing would work. I was desperate.

It was at this point that is I was introduced to Built4Life. At the beginning because of my bad experiences and years of self abuse on my body I thought it was just another lot of hype that wasn’t going to work. I can absolutely testify today it has been completely the opposite! It’s the only thing that has ever worked for me and it’s improved all areas of my life both mentality and physically, I have regained my confidence and feel like I did in my 20s yet look better than I ever have - Ive lost 45lbs - and it’s given me an opportunity to live a long, happy, better life that I am now in control of!

The best part about it is that it’s not what you have to do it’s what you don’t have to do that has been so surprising, it’s how simple the principles are to follow and it all makes so much sense. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to put in the effort but it’s where, when and why you put the effort the program teaches you.

Having a community of Built4Lifers working around you in theBuilt4Life community is a great thing; sharing each others journey and supporting if you are having an off day.

I will for ever now be a Built4Lifer!

“I never thought I'd be able to regain health and fitness and enjoy life as I had before the accident. I'm delighted to say that I'm cycling again and playing squash and most importantly I'm able to enjoy full-on active holidays with my wife and sons again!”
I’d been through what was without doubt the most testing time of my life when I discovered Built4Life having spent a year in hospital following a near fatal car accident followed by a further 2 1/2 years in rehabilitation. I was able to walk and had started to work again but I never thought I’d be able to regain my previous levels of health and fitness and enjoy life as I had before the accident.

The name itself captured my attention as I could get behind the idea of building myself for life after what I’d been though. I can’t say I was excited about the idea of weight training at first though! I’d always been active but I loved cycling and mountain biking and squash. The last thing I was interested in was bodybuilding!

I now look at weight training in a very different way. The Built4Life style of weight training isn’t about bodybuilding. It focuses on being able to build yourself for life, unsurprisingly and I’m delighted to say that I’m cycling again and playing squash and most importantly I’m able to enjoy full on active holidays with my wife and sons again.

My relationship with food has changed dramatically and I think about positively about life.

If my story is relatable to you in any way I highly recommend you try the Built4Life Total Immersion Program. If you are willing to do the work you really can make permanent positive changes and become Built4Life.

Thank you

“Thanks to Built4Life I feel in control, I have an understanding of how to look after my body and mind, I have structure and most importantly I have self confidence!”
Before I started using the Built4Life principles, I used to think I knew about fitness (via media, PTs etc) yet nothing really seemed to work for me. The pressures women face to simply ‘look good’ are damaging to our mental health and I suffered for years from the feeling of never being quite good enough, never attractive enough, never been able to achieve goals which led to years of yo yo diets, hitting the gym hard for weeks on end (usually followed by not going at all for weeks) cardio training until I felt weak, all to try and ‘look the part’ and when that look never came I didn’t blame the fad diets or bikini body plans, I blamed myself for not having the ability to change. I knew I was suffering from a lack of self-confidence

I was introduced to the Built4Life via friends and decided I really needed to put my trust in the process which seemed different to anything I’ve ever done as it seemed too easy to be true. I will forever now be a Built4Lifer.

Living the Built4Life lifestyle has helped me reach aesthetic goals I never reached before – I lost 29lbs – but more than that it helped me realise the aesthetics are just an added bonus of everything else. I feel in control, I have an understanding of how to look after my body and mind, I have structure and most importantly I have self confidence.

I love the no nonsense approach to it, holding yourself accountable and deciding how much you want to change and how much you’re willing to impact your current lifestyle has such an effect on how I set and reach my goals.

I also love being part of a community of like minded people who will only offer support, which we all need from time to time.

" I was extremely skeptical about starting the Built4Life program. I've loved the whole journey and my results have been exceptional!”
When a friend of mine first suggested Built4Life, I was extremely skeptical about starting the program. He was so confident that Built4Life would help me, that he paid, and after 6 months I am so happy he did! I’ve loved the whole journey and my results have been exceptional.

I’d trained with weights on and off over the years and thought I knew about weight training, but I was wrong. The Built4Life style of weight training was a revelation! I train for less time but far more effectively and the effects both in and out of the gym have been remarkable.

I did know a fair bit about nutrition, and I’d have told you I was taking responsibility for my food choices and holding myself accountable, but I wasn’t really, not in a healthy (mental or physical) way. I would look for excuses, my metabolism was to blame, I don’t eat as much as my thinner friends, etc. But since I started tracking my nutrition regularly and take full responsibility, holding myself fully accountable “Built4Life style”, I have the best relationship I’ve ever had with food and I’m 15 kilos lighter too!

However, it’s in the area of mentality and accountability that I’ve noticed the biggest impact, which was counter to what I expected at the start of the program. I thought the idea of building a mentality in the gym that would impact other aspects of your life sounded a bit far fetched but it has worked. My days are filled with a greater sense of self belief, stressful situations are approached with a calm mind set, I know that “I’ve got this”. This approach spills into all aspects of life, I’m calmer, happier and more relaxed than I can remember. Imagine if all of the energy that was previously spent worrying was redirected into doing something positive? That’s how I think and feel now.

I can’t recommend Built4Life enough. Follow the pillars, be accountable, see the change. If you’ve any doubts at all (I had plenty) put them aside and start your journey. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

“I will always live the Built4Life Lifestyle and can't recommend it enough!”
I have lived the Built4Life lifestyle for 1 and 1/2 years now. Before I was introduced to Built4Life I had spent years doing cardio exercises to lose weight, attended various gym classes, running groups, tried solo running with hand weights, long walks and eating very little to try to change my body shape and stay slim. Nothing ever worked and I would always eventually put the weight back on and never felt I looked any different. I would go from looking too bloated or too frail and looked poorly. I was never happy with my body.

I was introduced to Built4Life by my husband. I saw how much it changed his life and wanted to see how much it could change mine. Built4Life focuses on the four pillars – physicality, nutrition, mentality and accountability – which now I feel have become very much part of my whole life. I always thought weight training was mainly for men and would only make me look masculine but now I love it! It’s the best exercise I have ever done and for the first time in my life I am starting to love my body shape – it’s so much more defined! This has made me feel more confident and I am excited to find out what else I am capable of achieving in the future.
